Today's groundbreaking ceremony gets us another step closer to a new shopping center in Tuscaloosa featuring 6 major anchor stores.

The retail center named 'Shoppes at Legacy Park' will be at the corner of 15th Street and McFarland Boulevard. The site of the former Cedar Crest neighborhood that was wiped out from the April 27, 2011 tornado.

If you've been through the busy area, you've already seen an active construction site. The town has been buzzing about the stores that are coming. The 6 anchors stores will feature Cost Plus World Market, DSW, Bed Bath & Beyond, PetSmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, and The Fresh Market. It's expected that $55 million will be invested into the development which may add 500 jobs to the community. The Shoppes at Legacy Park is scheduled to open fall of 2015.
