Grace Presbyterian Church on Hargrove Road hosts a monthly food distribution event for community members in need of assistance. The event takes place on the second Tuesday of every month. This month's event will be a drive-thru distribution to maintain safe social distancing.

The next event will be on Tuesday, July 14, in the parking lot of the church on Prince Avenue and Hargrove. It will kick off at 11 a.m. and will end at 3:30 p.m. Community members in need of emergency assistance can drive through the parking lot to collect packaged food.

To make their monthly food distribution day possible, the church collects monetary donations as well as shelf-stable food items which can be dropped off at the church office. Church office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The church is currently looking for canned vegetables, rice, dry beans, and canned beans. Donations for the event are restricted to only food items. The event is funded solely by the church through donations, but recently they have partnered with local businesses such as Two Men and a Truck and Milo's Hamburgers.

"We have a food pantry that we've been running for twenty-something years. We're always looking to give out food to the community," said Jennifer Sheppard, the manager of the event.

People who are interested in making donations in the form of funds can visit the church's website where links are provided to complete the contributions. You can visit their website at www.gracetuscaloosa.org or click this link.

Grace also provides a list of other local food resource guides for those in need in the Tuscaloosa area, which you can find here.
