Gordo Woman Needs Prayers After Double Lung Transplant

22-year-old Libby Hankins received a double lung transplant in April of 2016 and is now battling for her life as her body is trying to reject them.

I received a phone call here at the radio station last Friday. The voice on the other end of the phone was quiet and sweet and only asked that we say a prayer for Libby Hankins. I thought the name sounded familiar and after some research, I remembered hearing about her after the transplant.

Hankins was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) when she was only 2 years old. In April of last year she underwent surgery to replace her lungs with those of a donor.

CF is a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine  Some of the issues people diagnosed with CF face include difficulty breathing and coughing up mucus due to infection.

Hankins is now fighting for her life at a Duke University hospital as her body is trying to reject her new lungs and doctors are experimenting with a new drug in hopes to help her overcome an infection.

When I got that phone call on Friday, I gave the voice on the other end my word that I would tell everyone about Libby Hankins and ask for much needed prayers. Could you please pass on the word, add she and her family to your prayer list, join hands, whatever you can do?
