Ghost Fans Shatter Crowdfunding Goal for Man Who Died at Milwaukee Concert
Ghost fans are coming together to support one of their own. Following the death of concertgoer Jeffrey Fortune at Ghost’s May 31 gig in Milwaukee, fan club Ghost American Ministries launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the late man’s family.
Following Act I of Ghost’s ‘Rats! on the Road’ show, Fortune collapsed at Milwaukee’s Riverside Theater. Fans were ushered out of the venue while CPR was performed on Fortune, but after being transported to hospital, the 52-year-old was pronounced dead.
“He was an amazing person, artist, poet, musician as well as a tortured soul - yet he [was] kind with a bright shining soul,” the GoFundMe page reads. “He saw beauty in the darkest of places and often visited/dwelt in those places at times. He alternately referred to himself as ‘Hell on two legs, walking’ and also ‘a child of God.’ Please let everyone know how touched and grateful our family is to each and every one of you for helping us through this time. We feel the waves of your prayers and thoughts and Jeffrey would have been touched and amazed beyond belief at the warmth and kindness and prayers.”
Various Ghost fan clubs on Facebook spread the word about the crowdfunding page, helping get $7,000 raised so far, even though the initial goal was just $1,000. If you’d like to contribute to the memorial fund, click here.
