Georgia WR Jermaine Burton Officially Announces Transfer to Alabama
Sophomore wide receiver Jermaine Burton has made a decision on where he will play next season. The Georgia receiver announced on his Twitter Sunday afternoon that Burton will be taking his talents to Tuscaloosa and join the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Burton was featured a good bit in the Georgia offense in his freshmen season as he finished the year with 27 receptions, 404 yards and three touchdowns.
Coming into his sophomore season his role in the offense was expected to increase, many people believed he would be the top target for Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett, however injuries and inconsistency led to a mediocre season for Burton as he finished the year with 26 receptions, 497 yards and five touchdowns. Despite that moderate production Burton is on the move.
Burton is the second wide receiver to join the Tide in as many seasons. He joins a what is now crowded receiver room that features four sophomores in Christian Leary, Ja'Corey Brooks, Agiye Hall and JoJo Earle along with his close friend Traeshon Holden.
Holden and Burton are both from Los Angles county and have been friends for awhile. They have created a group that they started known as the defensive back assassins. The duo will try to work together with quarterback Bryce Young to attack opposing defenses in 2022.
