Former Northridge Star Competes For Team USA in Brazil
Former Northridge High School volleyball star Lydia Paulette was recently selected to the Team USA D-2 Volleyball Team and is currently competing on tour in Brazil.
Paulette is one of 10 players selected to Team USA and is competing against other professional and club teams as well as conducting youth clinics to serve the communities in Brazil.
"This is an outstanding group of young women." says Ron Smith of USA Sports Tours & Events. "Many of the players in this year's USA D-2 / Brazil Tour team had great individual seasons and led their teams into post season play. This tour is designed to expose player to a great vollyball experience while providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for educational, cultural and social growth."
The former Jaguars star finished third on the Mississippi College Choctaws team in kills with 232 and fourth on the team in blocks with 29. She was named to the Gulf South Conference Academic Honor Roll and the All-Tournament Team in 2021.
Paulette was named the Tuscaloosa News Volleyball Super Athlete of the Year in 2020, the Alyiah Wells Volleyball Player of the Year Award in 2020 by The Lab of Tuscaloosa and also was MVP of the 2020-21 Area Tournament for the Northridge Jaguars.
Paulette and her teammates will get to experience Sao Paulo and Rio in Brazil and will tour several historic sights in the South American nation. The D-2 team will see the famous Copacabana Beach, Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf Mountain.
