This B101.7 Flashback Friday spotlight takes us to 1995 and the trio of ladies who call themselves the first letter of their nicknames. The group is TLC, featuring singer Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins, rapper Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes and singer Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas. These ladies best know for their #1 hit, 'Waterfalls.'

Wikipedia shares these stats on 'Waterfalls':

The song was the number two song of the year on Billboard's 1995 year-end chart. 'Waterfalls' received critical acclaim, earning two Grammy nominations at the 38th Annual Grammy Awards in 1996 for Record of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

The song about the illegal drug trade, promiscuity and HIV/AIDS was more recently featured in the movie 'We're The Millers.' In the comedy Jason Sudeikis plays a small time drug dealer, but has to smuggle drugs with a fake family featuring Jennifer Aniston. There is one seen, the fake family is returning with drugs from Mexico and 'Waterfalls' comes on the radio. The rap part of the song comes up and the fake son busts out the rap word for word. I just saw the movie for the first time this past weekend. It's funny!

A part of the rap scene is featured in the official movie trailer. It's 2:17 into the clip below.
