Have you checked out the new menu items at Ezell's Southern Food Express in Tuscaloosa yet? Y'all need to get on this ASAP; it's amazing!

Greg Thomas and I stopped by Ezell's Southern Food Express off 15th Street for lunch yesterday, and it was seriously the best lunch I have had in a LOOOOOONG time. Ezell's has recently made some changes to their menu-- all their entrees are now the perfect portion AND a great price!

Ezell's Southern Food Express is about bringing the South to your mouth. The restaurant is part of a family tradition that began in the Great Depression when CA Ezell began serving catfish at his fishing camp on the Tombigbee River. The Ezell family takes great pride in serving recipes that have been passed down for generations. During my trip to the restaurant yesterday, I got to interview Oliver Ezell--CA's grandson--for the video above.

The food at Ezell's--Y'ALL. It is incredible! I had fried shrimp, hashbrown casserole, and cheese grits topped with Cajun Roux. The food was delicious: the shrimp was juicy and its breading was expertly seasoned and fried. The hashbrown casserole was like cheesy carb-y heaven, and the cheese grits. OH MAN. Y'all have to try them ASAP.

I also tried Ezell's Greek Chicken Wings. Oliver told me they're prepared in-house with clarified butter, Worcestershire sauce, and Greek seasoning. They were THE BEST. Like, those wings are my new favorite. The seasoning was so on point! I could eat a metric butt-ton of these wings--they're THAT good.

I got to try Ezell's banana pudding (which was just stupid good) and their freshly prepared peach tea. I love that their food is made in-house--it doesn't come shipped in from some rando factory; it's made right here in Tuscaloosa using family recipes.

My other favorite thing about Ezell's? They use LOCAL ingredients. When you order catfish, you're getting catfish from Alabama and Mississippi. They use Gulf Seafood. They use local, QUALITY ingredients, and it shows.

Stop by Ezell's Southern Food Express and check out their new menu items this weekend!
