Extremely Hot Day For West Alabama

Another hot day is in store for West Alabama with a high expected near 101 today along with mostly sunny skies.  This evening will have partly cloudy conditions with a low around 73.  This set up for the forecast will remain in place until Friday.  Thursday’s high will be near 99 and Friday near 97.  These are above-average temperatures for October which generally we are in the 80’s.

Yesterday, Tuscaloosa had a record high of 100 degrees which breaks the record of 95 set in 1954.  Also, record highs took place in Alabama yesterday.  For example, Huntsville set a record yesterday of 99 degrees which broke the 1926 record of 95 degrees.

But, hold on!  Relief from these very hot temperatures is on the way.  Next week a cold front will move into Alabama that will bring us temperatures in the 70’s with much-needed rain.  However, more than likely, the rainfall amounts will not be enough to solve the drought issues.
