Druid City Brewing Company Hosts Supply Drive for Gulf Coast
Tuscaloosa's famous Druid City Brewing Company is hosting a supply drive to help people along the Gulf Coast who are suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Sally.
Bo Hicks, the founder of Druid City Brewing Company, said that this is the second relief drive they have hosted -- last month, they cooked and sold barbeque to raise funds to for victims of Hurricane Laura. Hicks said that the idea was brought up to him by Gary Granata, the son of former University of Alabama professor, Jack Granata.
"I found that during these trying times with everything going on, having more of a positivity bender and doing good helps keep your mind from wandering into the woe is me [mindset]," Hicks said.
The supplies collection is going through this weekend and will end at 1:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The brewery is asking for donations of non-perishable food items, water, toiletries, baby wipes and diapers, pet food and charcoal.
"So many people helped Tuscaloosa after the Tuscaloosa tornado that decimated our community, so when there is a chance like that especially with our brothers and sisters on the Gulf Coast," Hicks said. "Everybody is suffering right now so let's just try to lighten the load where we can."
