DeVonta Smith earned his second SEC Offensive Player of the Week award, after hauling in eight receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Smith's performance was crucial to the Crimson Tide's 55-17 victory over the defending national champion LSU Tigers.

Its Smith's second time winning the award after he originally won it thanks to his performance against the Kentucky Wildcats two weeks ago.

Smith leads the SEC in receiving this year in yards (1,305) and touchdowns (15), he is second in the conference in receptions (80) through nine games in this SEC-only schedule.

Six of Smith's eight receptions on Saturday night went for a first-down or touchdown against the Tigers. He scored on receptions of 65, 61 and 20 yards in Baton Rouge. It was the second year in a row that Smith contributed over 200 yards receiving against LSU after he went for 213 yards and two touchdowns against the Tigers in 2019.

The Crimson Tide has two games remaining on its schedule and Smith needs only 50 yards to break the Alabama career receiving record. Amari Cooper currently holds the top spot with 3,463 yards.

The last time a wide receiver won the Heisman trophy was Desmond Howard in 1991. He recorded 1,165 yards from scrimmage and 21 total touchdowns for the Michigan Wolverines to win the bronze statue. Should DeVonta Smith be in the consideration to win this season's Heisman trophy?
