Get ready to "spring forward!" Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 8; don't forget to change your clocks this weekend. I hope you're ready for (literally) the biggest waste of time in the history of humanity. It may mean more sunshine and it may be the harbinger of spring, but I do not care. Y'all, I HATE Daylight Saving Time.

What person actually WANTS to lose an hour of sleep? I was going to write a paragraph about being a mom to a toddler and how valuable my sleep is, but nah. Everyone likes to sleep. You don't have to be a parent to value those precious hours of slumber. No one anywhere should be forced to give up an hour of sleep for any reason.

Also, and I can't stress this enough: Daylight Saving Time is DUMB. So, so, so dumb. I understand that it came to fruition waaaaaay back in the old timey times, but you know what? This is 2015, and I don't need to carry a whale oil lamp outside to find my way to the outhouse at dusk. Our soccer field isn't illuminated by a thousand candles for a night game.

WE HAVE LIGHTS FOR THAT.

This is not Downton Abbey before the Great War. It is Two Thousand Fifteen, and we have electricity. Daylight Saving Time is totally unnecessary. Some people say it results in less electricity consumed, but NAH. Any energy "saved" at night is just used again in the morning.

Daylight Saving Time is like taking a Fruit-By-The-Foot, chopping off the bottom third, and taping it to the top. You think you just changed the game but guess what, joker? You still have three feet of fruit snack--exactly the same as when you began.

Also time doesn't work that way.

Also Daylight Saving Time is dumb.
