Click It Or Ticket This Weekend
Take a moment to "Buckle Up" on this Holiday Weekend, because Alabama Officers are enforcing "Click It Or Ticket". The program is officially underway and continues through June 4, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Officials say that the focus will be on making sure motorists are wearing seat belts, and children are in proper restraints. Eddie Russell, program coordinator for the North Alabama Traffic Safety office in Russellville, says “The biggest thing is, we’re just taking some time to remind everybody it only takes a second to buckle that seat belt. One second can be the second that makes a difference between life and death".
The official Memorial Day weekend travel period begins at 6 a.m. Friday and continues through midnight Monday, so make sure that you are strapped in.
In addition to Alabama Highways, know that if you're having fun in the water, Alabama Marine Officers will have a heavy presence on the water throughout the weekend. So, make sure that you obey all laws and exercise caution on the waterways, too.
