When Ciara chatted with PopCrush With Access Hollywood's Billy Bush recently, the singer got straight to the serious stuff.

Billy Bush referenced an interview in which Oprah told Jay-Z her dislike of rap partially comes from the frequency of the 'N word.' While Oprah may not agree with rappers integrating it into their lyrics, Ciara has a different perspective.

"Well, as an entertainer, you know you have fun, and it’s all about the context it’s used in," Ciara explained. "Because I am a African American woman, so I can identify with that word in different ways. But it is all about the context, and in my case I can have fun with it because I am you know the core of where it comes from."

That's not to say that she think it's always an acceptable term. The 'I'm Out' songstress clarified that there is a time and a place for the word.

"But again, you have to be light-hearted and it has to be in a certain way," she continued. "You cannot hear another person of another race saying you THIS or you THAT. Again, it is all about how you say it, and what context it is used in."
