Cancellation Seals A Tough Road Series For The Tide
After dropping the first two games of their weekend series in Nashville, Alabama Baseball's third and final game against the Commodores has been canceled according to Alabama Baseball via Twitter.
Friday's matchup was a solid showing for the Tide as they managed to hammer in six runs from six hits off of one of college baseball's biggest names RHP Kumar Rocker. But Rocker wouldn't disappoint and still managed to secure 13 strikeouts in just five innings of work. Bama junior RHP Tyler Ras notched only his second loss on the year, moving his record to 6-2 for 2021, after throwing only four frames and allowing eight runs off of eight hits.
Game 2 felt doomed out of the gate as it took five innings to finally get a run on the scoreboard for Bama. The Tide's junior RHP Dylan Smith got the starting nod for Saturday's matchup and was credited with his sixth loss of the season after six innings of work. Sophomore infielder Jim Jarvis moved his hitting streak to six games after a 2-for-6 weekend and officially owns a .350 batting average in the stretch.
Another opportunity for the Tide to make a push for the SEC Tournament will come on Friday, May 14 at 7:00 PM (CST) as they take another road trip - this time to Baton Rouge, Louisianna - to take on LSU. After their series with the Tigers, Bama closes the SEC regular season with another three-game series, at home, against the No. 4 Mississippi State Bulldogs.
If the season were to end today, Alabama would be tied for the 7th seed in the 2021 SEC Tournament. Game 1 of the tournament will start on Tuesday, May 25 at 10:30 AM, and if the Tide continue their pace, there's a good chance for them to play on opening day. The 2021 SEC Tournament will again be held in Hoover, Alabama at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium from May 25 through May 30. Tickets for the 12-team faceoff are open to the public starting on Wednesday, May 12 at 10:00 AM (CST).
