Per Chris Low of ESPN, reigning national champion head coach Kirby Smart reportedly signed a massive contact extension with Georgia, locking him up with the Bulldogs for the next 10 seasons.

Low reports that Smart's new extension will be worth over $10 million in the first season, but will climb to over $12 million per year by the end of the deal, making him one of the highest paid coaches in the nation.

Smart joined the Bulldogs in 2016 and found near instant success. In just his second season as the leader of the Georgia program, Smart led the team to a 13-2 record and a berth in the College Football Playoff where he lost to his former head coach, Nick Saban.

This past season, Smart and the Dawgs made their return to the College Football Playoff and again took on Saban, but came out victorious this time around, winning the program's first National Championship since 1980.

In six seasons as the Bulldogs head coach, Smart has compiled an impressive 66-15 regular season record and has gone 6-2 in bowl games.

Georgia's season kicks off in Atlanta at Mercedes Benz stadium on September 3 against the Oregon Ducks who are led by a former member of Smart's staff, Dan Lanning. Oregon ended last season ranked No. 22, so Smart and company will have their work cut out for them in Week 1.
