Brand New DeVonta Smith Display at the CFB Hall of Fame
The College Football Hall of Fame put up a brand new display for Alabama WR DeVonta Smith. Smith was the first WR to win the Heisman trophy since Desmond Howard won the prestigious award back in 1991. The only other receivers to win the Heisman were Notre Dame's Tim Brown in 1986 and Nebraska's Johnny Rodgers in 1972.
As a senior, DeVonta Smith hauled in 117 receptions for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns and helped Alabama win its 18th National Championship.
In addition to winning the Heisman trophy, DeVonta Smith brought home the Maxwell, Walter camp, Biletnikoff, Paul Hornung, AP Player of the Year, SEC Player of the Year and was a unanimous First-Team All-American.
That Amite, Louisiana native came to Alabama as a 4-star recruit and part of a recruiting class that featured Tua Tagovailoa, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III, Najee Harris, Dylan Moses, Mac Jones, Alex Leatherwood, Jedrick Wills and Xavier McKinney.
As a freshman, he connected with Tua Tagovailoa for a 41-yard touchdown in overtime to win the 2017 National Championship.
Smith is one of three Alabama receivers with 200 or more career catches, joining Amari Cooper and Calvin Ridley. He broke the SEC record for receiving yards and touchdowns in a season in 2020.
He also leaves Tuscaloosa as the SEC's all-time leader in career touchdown receptions and his 46 touchdowns are the most by any WR in Power 5 history.
Against Ohio State, the star WR broke the record for most receptions, touchdowns and yards in a half in a College Football Playoff championship.
DeVonta Smith is seen as a potential top-10 pick in this years NFL Draft.
