More than 90 percent of the students who rushed Panhellenic sororities at the University of Alabama this week were invited to join one during the ever-extravagant Bid Day Sunday afternoon.

Shane Dorrill, a spokesperson for the University, said 2,556 women participated in Rush Week this year, which takes place a week before classes begin each Fall semester.

Of those, Dorrill said 2,345 received bids from one or more of the 17 Panhellenic sororities participating in recruitment this week -- around 92 percent of all participants.

Dorrill said 218 of those women self-identified as racial or ethnic minorities, a ratio he called consistent with 2021 figures.

The glamor of Bama's biggest-in-the-world recruitment week has long drawn public interest to Tuscaloosa annually, but perhaps never more so than this year. The spectacle of Rush went viral on social media last year, especially on the video platform TikTok, and this year's event drew the New York Times and a Vice documentary crew to campus.

Editor's note: This gallery was shot an assembled by someone entirely unfamiliar with the Panhellenic sororities and if any group, house or tradition was unintentionally excluded from it, the absence is merely a reflection of that ignorance.
