Kickoff game day weekend with Tuscaloosa's newest brewery, Band of Brothers Brewing Company! They're hosting a special fundraiser at their taproom Friday night to benefit Secret Meals for Hungry Children.

The event starts at 7pm Friday; there will be live music, craft beer, and door prizes. Admission is free and open for all ages; those 21 and older can purchase a $10 ticket in advance to be able to enjoy a catered dinner and flight of Band of Brothers beer. Band of Brothers is located at 1605 23rd Avenue in Tuscaloosa.

Proceeds benefit Secret Meals for Hungry Children, a non-profit founded by Alabama Credit Union in 2008. Its mission is to provide weekend food packs to children in local schools, who would otherwise go hungry over the weekend. A child’s enrollment in this program is entirely up to school officials that are trained by Alabama Credit Union to recognize signs of hunger.

To provide weekend food packs to a child for an entire school year is on average $140 per student. Secret Meals currently serves approximately 2,500 students statewide.

Friday's fundraising event was planned by public relations students: Hayden Furmanek, Allison Parker, Mary Landers Ward, and Patrick Weaver. The event was planned entirely by the students listed above and all marketing and public relations work was created and performed by them as well. This event is to promote awareness about Secret Meals and to help fundraise for the organization.
