Bama Football Commit Continues To Impress, Even In Loss
The Westview High School Chargers, led by 2022 Alabama QB commit Ty Simpson, finished week two of their season 1-1 after losing a close non-conference matchup to the Peabody Golden Tide on Friday night, 31-29.
Simpson and the Westview Chargers had their work cut out for them in week two of the 2021 season, as the Peabody Golden Tide held a 38 game winning streak and had won three consecutive 2A Tennessee State Championships prior to the early-season matchup.
Nevertheless, he added to his season stats by slinging for two touchdowns and a total of 247 yards through the air before the night was over. On the ground, the senior had an additional 137 yards from scrimmage and a rushing score, bringing his season total to 8 touchdowns in only his first two appearances of 2021.
Footage from the loss seemed to make the rounds on social media on late Friday night as it depicts Simpson extending plays with, what looks like, unshakable confidence.
In his first game as a senior last week, the consensus 4-star recruit accounted for over 400 yards of total offense, including four touchdowns through the air and one on the run.
Simpson committed to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide in late February of 2021 and is the third-highest-rated recruit in the 2022 Alabama class according to 247Sports. Currently, the 2022 Alabama recruiting class ranks No. 1 in the SEC and No. 4 nationally.
