Auburn Invitational Ben Hines Swims Tides Second Fastest Time
The Tide traveled to Auburn, Alabama for their last meet of the regular season before gearing up for SEC Championships. The meet will be held Feb.15-19 in Knoxville, Tenn., on Tennessee's home campus.
Fresh out of Nevada Mo., freshman Ben Hines swam very competitively on Friday, giving Auburn a run for their money when it came to the 50 meter freestyle event.
Hines competed in the 50 meter free style, swimming one of Alabama's second fastest times of the season. Hines came in hot and swam a fast 19.71 for the 50 meter which broke his own personal best previously swimming a 20.07 for the event.

Hines swimming background is no doubt impressive he competed in the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials as a qualifier, Arkansas LSC Record setter in 50 and 100 freestyle, Three-time Missouri State Champion in the 50 freestyle, Six-time individual state champion, and competed at the 2019 TYR Pro Swim Series in Greensboro, NC going top-20 in the 100 butterfly. Hines shows good potential for the Crimson Tide.
As this is the end meet for the regular season it's important for the Tide to show up, which is what exactly what Ben Hines did. Those competing for the Tide will be present for the remaining spots on UA's Southeastern Conference Championship rosters. As the Tide wraps up their end meet for the regular season it's important for these athletes to be focusing on getting better each day and getting ready to compete in SEC for the next big meet coming up here in February.
