A 55-year-old Gadsden man is facing attempted murder charges following an officer-involved shooting in Tuscaloosa last night. ABC33/40 News reports Tuscaloosa Police Officers were attempting to serve a warrant on Robert Lee Spires at approximately 10:30 p.m. last (July 29, 2019) at a home off Mayfair Drive. Spires ran to a car and started the engine. After officers attempted to get him to exit the vehicle, Spires tried to run over the three officers in the car. Officers then fired at Spires, who crashed his vehicle into a tree.

Spires was treated for injuries at DCH Regional Medical Center before being charged with three counts of attempted murder.
