Serious question: Would you eat at your house if you had to pay yourself for the meal?

Sounds crazy, right?

If you had to pay yourself for your meal, is there anything you'd do differently?

Where's this going?

Well, I was thinking (yep, uh oh)...

I went to a local deli-style establishment one night to get some mac and cheese. I'd had it earlier in the day before, and it was REALLY good. Well, this particular night, it looked like it had been made earlier and had sat out all day. Needless to say, I left it there.

However, Thanksgiving is but a few weeks away; and if my family gathering is at 3 pm, that means the food will be ready at least by 2 pm. We're going to eat, converse, play games AND eat some more. I don't doubt that I'll probably be fixing my last (not necessarily my 2nd) plate somewhere around 7 pm.

Why is it that I'm okay with eating home-cooked food hours later, but if it's in a restaurant or deli, it has to be fresher? Surely I'm not the only person who feels this way, am I?
