Your chance to be a hero is on the horizon! The American Red Cross is hosting a community blood drive at University Mall in Tuscaloosa from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015.

Summer is filled with blockbuster movies that feature larger-than-life superheroes on the silver screen, and it's always awesome to see an action hero save the day--but you don't have to be Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne to save lives! A single blood donation has the potential to help up to THREE different people. When you donate to the Red Cross, you're saving lives. Your donation is more important than ever; we're about to enter a critical season, which means blood reserves and supply can become dangerously low.

If you want to be a hero, come to the blood drive and donate! It's a simple process, and you'll feel great knowing you've done something to help others. Plus: you get free snack after you donate! Donors are required to be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in generally good health. (Click HERE for more on donation eligibility.)

Don't forget: The Red Cross Community Heroes Blood Drive is Friday, June 5, at University Mall. The blood drive will be held on the ground floor of University Mall near JC Penney. Those who plan to donate will need a valid photo ID or Red Cross Donor ID Card. You can schedule an appointment to make your donation by visiting redcross.org and can call 1-800-RED-CROSS for more information on the donor process.
