AlabamaWBB Defeats Ranked MS State 86-78

The Alabama Women's Basketball team (11-1, 4-1) defeated the Mississippi State Women's Basketball team (8-3, 3-2) despite being down by 12 at one point in the third quarter 86-78 on the road to move to 11-1 on the season and an impressive 4-1 in SEC play.

"I thought were able to match the play really well," Head coach Kristy Curry said. "You have to stay positive and stay the course. We were able to make some shots and got the ball where we wanted it. We had a great presence down the stretch, and it helped us win a tough game on the road tonight."

Trailing in the game for 30 minutes, Alabama would battle all throughout the game. All 5 starters would end the game in double figure and would use the shooting performance of senior guard Jordan Lewis who finished the game with 22 points. Alabama also would continue their strong showing from the free-throw line finishing 17 for 21 and 9 for 9 in the second half.

"We know that we have to make plays in the SEC schedule," Curry said. "It is the little things that make a big difference. Patience is a virtue and we were fortunate on both sides of the ball tonight and it paid off."
