Former Alabama Crimson Tide inside linebacker Christian Harris has been selected in the third round with the 75th overall draft pick by the Houston Texans. Harris becomes the fifth Alabama player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Harris, a former 4-star prospect in the 2019 class was a three-year starter at inside linebacker for the Crimson Tide. He joined Alabama after playing safety and cornerback for University Lab High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He will join John Metchie III in Houston as a rookie, as the wide receiver was selected by the Texans in the second round.

He appeared in 41 games for Alabama over three seasons accumulating 221 total tackles with 27 coming for a loss. Additionally he tallied 10 sacks with seven passes defended, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.

The 6-foot-2 linebacker earned USA Today Freshman All-American and All-SEC Freshman Team in 2019. He was a Butkus Award semifinalist in his sophomore and junior seasons.

He helped the Crimson Tide win two SEC Championships and one national title during his tenure with the Tide.

The Texans finished the 2021 season with a 4-13 overall record and fired first year head coach David Culley. Harris will be playing for longtime NFL coach and newly promoted head coach Lovie Smith.

The 75th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft was Osa Odighizuwa to the Dallas Cowboys. He signed a four-year contract worth $5 million, including a $1 million signing bonus. Harris should expect to sign a contract of similar value with the Houston Texans.
