Alabama Women’s Soccer Team Receives International Commit

TUSCALOOSA-- The University of Alabama women's soccer team received a commitment from an exciting international soccer prospect to join the Crimson Tide. Nadia Ramadan currently serves as the captain of Egypt's U-17 Women's National Team, and also plays for the U-20 team.

Ramadan currently plays club soccer for the Sockers FC Chicago Girls Academy not far from where she lives in Algonquin, IL and she has been part of this club program since the age of 12. She has also been a part of the Egyptian team for three years now and has played in international matches against teams such as Lebanon, Nigeria and the Congo.

The 5-foot-7 and 155lb high school midfielder from the class of 2023 announced her decision to come to the Capstone on July 6 via Twitter post. The verbal commitment by the Egyptian soccer star is a major recruiting move for a program that struggled much of last season.

The Tide's lackluster 2021 campaign could allow for Ramadan to come into the program and begin making an impact right out of the gate. Ramadan has played in many international competitions and for a girl her age, she carries much experience which ultimately lead to her becoming captain of the U-17 Egyptian team.

The Crimson Tide finished the 2021-2022 season with a record of 11-10-1 but qualified for both the SEC and NCAA tournaments. In the SEC tournament, they fell in the first round after a 1-0 loss to Ole Miss. However, the team had slightly more success in the NCAA tournament, beating Clemson in the first round before falling to BYU in the second.

The team struggled mostly on the road, and by adding a player of Ramadan's prestige and international experience, they hope to not demonstrate as much lack of success.
