The Alabama Crimson Tide opened its fall football camp this past Thursday to start its 2021 campaign. The Tide has to replace two wide receivers drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft but will have one less weapon to do so as Xavier Williams is not currently listed on the Alabama roster.

WIlliams, a former 4-star prospect from Hollywood, FL., has only caught three passes for 24 yards in his Alabama career. Each of his receptions came in last season's postseason as he was seemingly carving out a role for himself.

Williams has appeared in 11 games through three seasons with the Crimson Tide and was seen as a potential option to replace Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith.

Alabama turns to John Metchie and Slade Bolden as the experienced members of the wide receiving room. Transfer Jameson Williams and up-and-comers Traeshon Holden and Javon Baker are also expected to step up in the absence of Williams.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will open its season on Sept. 4 in Atlanta against the Miami Hurricanes at 2:30 p.m.
