Grammy nominated Alabama Shakes along with the Drive-By Truckers have announced plans to play later this summer at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. The concert is planned for 8pm on August 20th, with the doors opening at 7pm.

What I find really interesting with this pairing, both bands are from towns called Athens, but in different states! Alabama Shakes hails from Athens in, well yes, Alabama. Whereas the Drive-By Truckers have their roots in Athens, Georgia. Quite the coincidence, I must say.

Alabama Shakes continues their rise in popularity on the heels of receiving lucrative Grammy nominations for Best New Artist, and Best Rock Performance for "Hold On", and Best Recording Package for their debut album, Boys & Girls. They've played the Late Show with David Letterman. Hey, that's a big deal to me. Besides, the national audience, Dave is the man and the band will be able to tell generations they played at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City for David Letterman. I need to bring up that performance video. Look below for it.

Drive-By Truckers are a very good rock band too, and a solid companion on this tour! This show is going to be memorable show to say the least.

Let's get to the ticket info for the show. They go on sale Friday morning (May 22nd) at 10am through Ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater box office. The pricing breaks out where lower level general admission is $54, and $33.50 and $43.50 for reserved upper level seating (plus applicable fees and service charges).
