Alabama came in at No. 4 in ESPN's future quarterback power rankings. The Crimson Tide are ranked below Oklahoma, Clemson and USC.

Quarterback has become a prime position at Alabama with Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones becoming Heisman finalists during their time in Tuscaloosa. Jalen Hurts also had success at the position back in 2016, earning Freshman All-American and SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors. Offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian departed this offseason to take the head coaching job at Texas, but former Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien will take over in the same role. Alabama also added former Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Marrone to the offensive staff.

The Crimson Tide head into a heated quarterback competition this spring that will feature Bryce Young, Paul Tyson and Jalen Milroe.

Young was rated as ESPN's No. 1 dual-threat quarterback and No. 5 overall player in the 2020 recruiting class. In 2019, Young was named High School Quarterback of the Year by the National Quarterback Club, the Maxwell Player of the Year and Gatorade Football Player of the Year in California. Young also earned U.S. Army All-American Bowl Offensive MVP honors.

The former five-star prospect appeared in nine games as a true freshman last season. Young went 13-of-22 passing for 156 yards and a touchdown.

The Tide signed four-star dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe as part of the 2021 recruiting class. In three seasons, Milroe accounted for 5,350 passing yards, 52 touchdowns and 1,220 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.

Paul Tyson, the great-grandson of Paul "Bear" Bryant is also on the roster. The redshirt sophomore has seen action in one game against Western Carolina in 2019. Tyson was rated as the No. 14 pocket passer and the No. 295 player on the ESPN 300 in 2019. Even though Tyson has two years under his belt, he will technically be a freshman again this season.

Alabama saw its spring practice wiped away last season because of COVID-19. A spring camp this season could prove to be a pivotal development period for Young, Milroe and Tyson.
