Alabama Pastor Upsets LGBTQ Groups With Church Sign
Church signs have been used to make us laugh and provoke thought for years.
Alabama church signs especially!
I love the times we are currently in when nothing is allowed to provoke thought or make us laugh.
Not allowed in 2022.
Why?
Someone might get offended.
I say SO WHAT! When did it become illegal to offend someone with a thought or joke?
Well, a church in Montgomery, Alabama, has "offended" some LGBTQ folks with a sign that simply reads....
"GOD DETESTS PRIDE"
Enter Lindsey Dukeminier who posted this picture on Facebook.
I support both sides.
I think the church deserves the freedom to say what they feel is important and so does Lindsey, in my humble view.
Obviously, Lindsey used her right to show her feelings on the sign in a very public way. That's great. What's not great is beating down the pastor until he "submits" and stops saying anything you don't agree with...that has to stop.
In defense of the Wares Ferry Road Baptist Church in Montgomery, the Bible does have a pretty easy to understand scripture on pride.
Proverbs 16:5 in the NIV Bible, says:
The Lord DETESTS all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.
Proverbs 18:3 says:
Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverted mouth, I HATE.
So, I think the Pastor at Wares Ferry has a pretty solid argument for his church sign and the phrase "God detests pride".
That is clearly a Bible verse.
When can we just listen to each other and discuss, debate or whatever else speech that we do not agree with, leads us to do?
Who knows?
WE JUST MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING!
NOOOOOOO! We can't let that happen in 2022.
