Alabama Lands 4-Star Canadian Defensive Lineman Isaiah Hastings
The Alabama Crimson Tide football team lands 4-star defensive lineman Isaiah Hastings out of Clearwater, FL. Hastings is out of Toronto, Canada and transferred to Clearwater Academy International this past spring.
Hastings had over 30 college scholarship offers according to 247Sports. He chose Alabama over Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Oregon. He was recruited to Alabama by defensive line coach Freddie Roach and wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins.
Hastings becomes the third defensive lineman to commit to Alabama's 2022 recruiting class following Jaheim Oatis and Walter Bob. His commitment bumps the Tide to 19 commitments, Alabama now boasts the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation and the SEC.
The 6-foot-5, 290 pound defensive lineman opted to commit to college today as it is also the Canadian's birthday.
Andrew Irvins, the 247Sports scout, compares Hastings to former Alabama defensive lineman Christian Barmore. Through seven games in 2021, Hastings has recorded 24 QB Hurries and 6.5 sacks in his only season of American high school football.
The University of Alabama has had recent success with Canadian athletes, notably John Metchie on the football team. Other notables from The Great North include Josh Primo, Charles Bediako and Owen Diodati.
