Alabama Gymnastics Hires Gina Quinlan as New Assistant

The Alabama Crimson Tide gymnastics program has announced change on the coaching staff for the 2021-22 season.

The 2020 SEC Champions have hired Gina Quinlan to join the program as an assistant coach. Quinlan is an alum and was a co-captain on Alabama's 2000 SEC Championship team.

She has spent the last 11 years coaching at Metroplex Gymnastics in Allen, TX., serving as Head Vault and Uneven Bars Coach and Elite Program Coordinator. While there she coached more than three dozen athletes who earned NCAA Division I scholarships.

"We are extremely excited to have Gina join our staff. She brings extraordinary depth to our team as a veteran coach with an incredible, process-oriented, technical eye. She is a compassionate woman whose experience and style aligns with the core values of Alabama gymnastics," said Alabama head coach Dana Duckworth. "In speaking with several of her former gymnasts who went on to compete at the NCAA level, it was apparent that she develops genuine, authentic connections with her athletes and had a direct positive impact on the rest of their lives well beyond the arena floor. I have great respect for Gina’s coaching path and career development at every level and the success she’s brought to every program and athlete she has coached. With Gina on board, I look forward to continuing to build championship teams and amazing young women.”

Quinlan helped the Crimson Tide to three NCAA Regional titles and two top-three NCAA Championship finishes during her time as a gymnast. She won an NCAA regional balance beam championship and was also a Scholastic All-American while at the Capstone.

She graduated from Alabama with a bachelors degree in 2000 and earned her master's degree from UAB in 2003. Prior to her time at Metroplex she spent five years at Texas Dreams Gymnastics and prior to that her first five years were at American Gymnastics.

While at Metroplex the organization was named Texas Program of the Year, Region 3 Program of the Year and the Meetscoresonline Program of the Year. She coaches more than a dozen Junior Olympic National Team Members, including a pair of Junior Olympic National Champions.
