Alabama Department of Public Health Addresses COVID-19 Vaccine Misinformation
The Alabama Department of Public Health has responded to rumors circulating on social media about the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Multiple social media posts have been shared since Tuesday, December 15 stating that a nurse who had received the vaccine fell ill and died shortly after inoculation.
"[We] reached out to all hospitals in the state which administered the COVID-19 vaccine and confirmed there have been no deaths of vaccine recipients. The posts are untrue," the ADPH shared.
"Safety standards and post vaccine monitoring procedures are in place to ensure the health and well-being of vaccine recipients. Hospitals in Alabama continue to work diligently to protect the health and well being of frontline healthcare workers in their fight against this deadly virus," the agency added.
The ADPH also advised residents to be wary of misinformation circulating on social media and to seek out credible news sources for the latest details on both the novel Coronavirus pandemic and COVID-19 vaccine.
