Alabama Basketball Alumnus Earns New Contract
On Saturday, less than a week after he declined an offer to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers, free-agent PF JaMychal Green penned a two-year, $15 million contract with the Denver Nuggets.
According to the Denver-Post, the NBA free agency period doesn't open until Sunday; however, Green's final contract is set to include a "player-option" to give him the ability to leave the Nuggets organization prior to his second year of the contract, if Denver doesn't feel like a good fit.
In 2020, PF JaMychal Green averaged 20.7 minutes and 6.8 points per game as a role-player for the Clippers. Next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, Green was apart of the LA Clippers team which fell to Denver Nuggets in game seven in the NBA western conference semifinal at the NBA bubble in Orlando, FL.
Throughout his seasoned career, Green has seen time with the San Antonio Spurs (2015), Memphis Grizzlies (2015-2019), and Los Angeles Clippers (2019-2020) while averaging 8.1 points and a 47.1% for field goals. Prior to his NBA journey, the Montgomery, AL native went undrafted in the 2012 NBA draft and started in the NBA D-League. Green was named as an All-Star in 2015 with the Austin Spurs of the NBA D-League.
For St. Jude in Montgomery, AL, Green managed to lead the Pirates to both the 2006 and 2008 Alabama Class A State Championships along with three consecutive "Player of the Year" honors (2006-2008) from the Alabama Sportswriters Association. The 2008 Alabama "Mr. Basketball" also was selected to the USA U18 Team for the 2008 FIBA World Cup prior to committing to Alabama over Ole Miss.
