Read a Book
The Tuscaloosa Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins Tuesday, June 2, and it's going to be SUPER awesome! This year's theme is "Every Hero Has a Story," and programs include storytimes, movies, magic, experiments, and more! Registration is free at any TPL branch.

Watch a Free Movie
Tuscaloosa's Hollywood 16 Theaters is continuing its summer tradition: FREE MOVIES! You can bring your kids to watch a free movie at Cobb on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays at 10 a.m. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. the day of free shows. Click HERE to see the summer movie schedule.

Get Creative in the Kitchen
Visit one of Tuscaloosa's local farmers markets with your family. Kids will have the opportunity to learn how and where the fruits and veggies they eat are grown, and you can use the trip to teach them about the importance of eating locally. Let them pick out the foods they want to try and then head back home and have fun in the kitchen! Make a Splash
Bring the kids to PARA's new Harrison Taylor Splash Pad! It's located at Palmore Park and it open through Labor Day. Kids will love the splash pads fun features like slides and fountains (there's even a water cannon!). Children of all ages in Tuscaloosa also enjoy making a splash at Shelby Park; the facility has a fountain that's perfect for beating the summer heat.

Go For a Swim
Summers down South can be brutal, so let the kids cool off by going for a swim. Your family can visit PARA Pools like the one at Bowers Park or the Freeman Pool. Take a short trip to Lake Lurleen State Park--you can visit the beach and swim in the lake, too!

Rock Out
Did you know T-Town has its own summer concert series--and it's FREE? "Live at the Plaza" is happening every Friday night in June. Outdoor concerts will be held at Government Plaza in Downtown Tuscaloosa from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The series will feature local musicians--and did we mention that it's FREE?

Learn and Explore
Your kids will be able to create or explore something new with each visit to the Children's Hands-On Museum in Downtown Tuscaloosa. CHOM offers an array of interactive exhibits, seasonal workshops and events, holiday celebrations, and more. With three floors to explore, you'll have plenty of reasons to keep coming back to CHOM this summer.
