Shane Allen Price, 43, was charged last week with first-degree kidnapping and attempted domestic violence/first-degree assault, after allegedly beating a woman with an ax handle and burning her hair in an attack that lasted 18 hours. According to court records, a woman told police he beat her after accusing her of cheating.

The unidentified woman, 29, told officers the beatings started at a house in Vance at around 2 p.m. Oct. 10 and continued throughout the next day. She said that Price forced her to go to work at a job site with him the following morning, and that he made her lie in the back seat covered by a sheet and towel. She said told authorities that she was forced  back into the car when she tried to escape the job site, and again when she jumped from the moving vehicle. According to court documents, she was able to subsequently escape and call police on her third try when he was out of view at the job site.

According to an investigator in the case, “The victim also said the suspect set her hair on fire, burning some of it and told her he was going to make her ugly so no one else would want her. The victim also indicated the suspect had a large knife and told the victim he was going to slit her throat.”

In addition, the investigator said that, “The victim also stated the suspect told her he would kill her if he had to go back to prison.”

Price is currently being held in jail with bond set at $250,000.
