Tuscaloosa desperately NEEDS a Costco! But until we get one built here, I make the bi-monthly trip up to the one in Hoover to get my Costco "fix". I simply LOVE that place! However, now I may even LOVE them more, because news came out earlier this week that Costco is now selling a 27-pound bucket of mac and cheese with a 20-year shelf life!

Inside the 6 gallon container are separate pouches of elbow pasta and cheddar cheese sauce. The combo makes a massive total of 180 servings of the delicacy, (roughly 50 cents per serving). Which comes to the price....The tub sells for $89.99!
So what does this all have to do with surviving the apocalypse? Well, Costco representatives say the pasta and cheese are in separate bulk pouches with oxygen absorbers to protect quality and intact long shelf life. The bucket transports and stacks easily. The shelf life of the product is 20 YEARS!  In fact, because of the size and shelf life, Costco has listed the Mac & Cheese Bucket under the "Emergency Foods" section of its website.

Not surprisingly, the bucket is currently "sold out", however Costco officials say it should be back in stock shortly. I'm heading up to Hoover right now just to double check. :-)
