Reports of Stolen Vehicles Wave Over West Alabama

We already know that we should be more cautious around the holidays, that thieves are looking for the smallest breech in security, and that the rate of vehicle break-ins increases.  But it’s not too often that we hear of an entire vehicle coming up missing.

Apparently, there are thieves who are stealing vehicles in Tuscaloosa and around West Alabama.

What can you do to protect yourself from being a victim?

The first line of defense (which isn’t always a deterrent) is to make sure you lock your doors.  Also, make sure there are no items of value within a line of sight.

There are no guaranteed ways to make sure your vehicle isn’t stolen, but having a tool to aid in recovery is beneficial.  As one victim stated, an app helped her locate her missing car.

The fact of the matter is that times are changing.  Even if it wasn’t the holiday season, such things can happen. Reminders that they do simply help us to be more aware of our actions and our surroundings.
