David Eugene Mitchell, 46, was captured on Mondayin connection with the shooting death of Christopher McCrory, 27, last night in Coaling.

Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit commander Capt. Gary Hood said that Mitchell was one of five people who showed up at a residence on Aimee Drive in Coaling, to fight at approximately 6:30 p.m. Ironically enough, the initial argument did not involve Mitchell or McCrory, The dispute was allegedly between one of Mitchell’s family members and someone who lives with McCrory. According to Hood, “They were messaging each other on Facebook messenger. The argument escalated, and threats were made”. He also added, "Mitchell and McCrory exchanged words and Mr. McCrory was subsequently shot".

Witnesses identified the shooter as Mitchell, and Law enforcement officials were searching for him when he surrendered at the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 11:30 a.m. this morning.

He was charged with murder and is currently being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with bond set at $150,000.
