How fitting with National Puppy Day on Monday, I have news to share!  Let me introduce you to my new friend, a dog I adopted from the Humane Society of West Alabama!

Here's the story of a dog picked up by animal control not too long ago.  She was chipped and the owner was contacted. Happy ending, right? Not exactly. You see, the owner did want her back for one reason or another. Go figure.  I don't know why.  Well, she then landed in the care of the Humane Society of West Alabama.  This scruffy 3 year-old Terrier mix dog was named Buffy.  A good and fitting name.

I met Buffy while at the shelter recording video of a dog for our 'Pet of the Week' feature. Buffy's demeanor and looks instantly reminded me of Roxie, my dog who passed away last summer.  My wife Shannon met her a few days later.  Next thing you know, we're adopting!

Up next, the name. Shannon is pushing hard to change her name to Abbey.  Not bad.  I have a tendency to lean on names featured in songs.  So, I suggested Caroline, as in 'Sweet Caroline.'  I may lose the name campaign. Which one do you like?

Here, take a look at a few photos!
