Do you shop at Sam's Club? If you do, you might be in possession of some tainted meatballs.

A company out of New Jersey has recalled more than 3,400 pounds of beef meatball that may contain a bacteria known as listeriosis.

You're probably saying to yourself, "Doesn't listeriosis fight germs that cause bad breath?" No, that's Listerine. Listeriosis causes serious illness, especially in older adults, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems, and is something that needs to be immediately dealt with.

The meatballs that are being recalled are from Rich Products Corporation out of Vineland New Jersey. Specifically, they are the 6-pound bags of Sam's Club Member’s Mark Casa Di Bertacchi Italian-Style Beef Meatballs. They're readily identified by a “Best if used by 17 Dec 2018” label and lot code 15507351.

Alabamians should be cautious and alert, because some of the meatballs were shipped to Sam's stores in our state, along with Sam's stores located in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

If you find a bag in your possession, it is suggested that you take them back to Sam's for an exchange or simply toss them out.
