Introducing one of the more unique looking dogs you will ever find. Meet Lucy, B101.7's Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of West Alabama.

This 2-year-old female German Shepherd mix, has a black and tan coat. But, there are also brindle markings, possibly like a Tennessee Mountain Cur. You see, Lucy's body is more like a cur with a head and ears more like a German Shepherd. Lucy is a big dog, weighing 51 pounds.

Lucy was pulled from our local animal shelter, where she had been returned after being adopted out for about a year and a half by the shelter. Her owners said they didn’t want her anymore. So sad! She had been down there for a month and was getting very antsy, so the Humane Society of West Alabama had to get her out!

Lucy is a very sweet, social dog. She has a lot of energy, so she will need an active owner. She would be great with someone who wants a running, walking or hiking partner. Lucy would not do well in an apartment, and she will require a fenced in yard. She would probably be a good play partner for another dog, but she does tend to be the dominant dog. Lucy should be fine with children 12 and up, just not younger due to her size. She has started crate training and is up to date on her vet care, spayed, heartworm negative and is micro chipped. Plus, she is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

Lucy is a smart dog that will make a wonderful addition to any home, and we want to make sure this time it is forever! If you are interested in giving Lucy the forever home she wants and deserves, visit the Humane Society of West Alabama at HumaneSocietyofWA.org or call them at (205)-554-0011.

Lucy wants to be your #1!
