A happy go lucky dog named Junior is our B101.7 Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of West Alabama! This pup is ready to be your new best buddy this Christmas and into 2016!

Junior is a 9- to 10-month-old (as of 11/15) male Golden Retriever/shepherd mix. His coat is golden red with some white markings, and weighs about 30 pounds. It's expected that he will grow to weigh around 50 pounds.

Junior was pulled from our local animal shelter, where he had been surrendered by someone who had found him but could not keep him. Junior had been at the shelter for over a month and no one came to claim him, so we the Humane Society brought him to their shelter.

You'll notice, this guy is a very friendly, fun puppy! Yes, he is still a puppy, and will need training and structure to help him develop into a well-mannered adult dog. Junior loves attention, loves to play and loves to be with you. He is great with other dogs and should be wonderful with kids 12 and up, just maybe not young ones while he is still a bit jumpy.

Junior will require a fenced in yard if left outside any unattended. He does have some energy so we don’t think he would do well in an apartment.

The Humane Society has started crate training and has him up to date on his vet care, neutered, heartworm negative and is microchipped. Junior is also on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

Junior will make a great family dog and an awesome companion to a very lucky owner! If you are interested in giving Junior the forever home he wants and deserves!
