Unless you're Richard Branson, you're not buying Mom her own personal island in Fiji. Mother's Day is two days away, so what can you do to give your mom the greatest gift of all time?

Write her a letter.

I'm serious.

Write your mom a heartfelt letter to tell her how you feel. Use your own words. Tell her that you're thankful for her unconditional love and support, that you appreciate the sacrifices she's made to take care of you, that every hour she's worked, every meal she's prepared, every load of laundry she's folded have all meant something to you.

You probably don't remember it, but there was a time in your life where you were totally dependent on her: she nursed you, she changed your dirty diapers, she stayed up to rock you and sing you lullabies despite overwhelming exhaustion. She put Band-Aids on your boo-boo's. She hung your artwork on the fridge.

I never knew how hard being a mother is until my daughter arrived. There's this huge responsibility--an entire human life for which you are responsible. It changes you. Everything you do will be for your child. You learn how to put your own needs aside to take care of your baby. You feel a love so profound, so real, that it hurts.

This year, tell your mom you get it. Tell her that you care, that you're thankful, that you love her and are so lucky to have her as your mother.

That's what I'm telling my Momma Sunday. What will you say to yours?
