Meet Joe, our B101.7 Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of West Alabama! Like a good cup of Joe, this Retriever/Border Collie mix dog will perk up your home!

Tall, dark and handsome is the description given by the Humane Society to describe Joe and his thick black coat with white markings. He's considered a good-sized dog weighing in at 45 pounds.

We've learned Joe was pulled from our local animal shelter, where he had been surrendered by his owner because he could not afford to keep him. Poor Joe had been down there for 3 months and no one had adopted. That's surprising to hear from such a friendly and loving dog.

The Humane Society of West Alabama now has Joe and says he is very playful, social and loves to be with you and make you smile. They say Joe has some energy but settles down very nicely. This dog also loves car rides! You'll find that Joe would make a great running/walking partner. Also, he seems to do well with other dogs and should be fine with children 10 years old and up.

Keep in mind, Joe will require a fenced in yard if left outside any unattended. The Humane Society has started on his crate training and is up to date on his vet care, neutered, heartworm negative and is microchipped. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

This great dog deserves a wonderful forever home! If you are interested in giving Joe the forever home he wants and deserves, visit the Humane Society of West Alabama at www.humanesocietyofwa.org or call (205) 554-0011.
