Flash Flood Watch Issued Through Late Friday Night
Concern over the amount rain in the forecast has led the National Weather Service in Birmingham to issue a Flash Flood Watch for all of West Alabama through Friday night (April 1st).
Forecast details provided by the NWS on the Flash Flood Watch issued for our area:
- 2 to 4 inches of rainfall on average with localized higher
amounts are expected due to multiple rounds of showers and
thunderstorms. - Locations that will have the best chance of flash flooding will
be where multiple rounds of thunderstorms move across the same
areas. Minor river flooding is also possible due to heavy
rainfall... especially for western Alabama rivers and stream
basins.
Precautionary and preparedness actions:
- A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. - You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
