Five-star freshman Collin Sexton won't make his Alabama debut on Friday night's season opener against Memphis, but he'll return one game later.

Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne released a statement on Thursday night after the NCAA ruled on Sexton's eligibility:

Collin Sexton will sit out of Friday’s season opener against Memphis to serve a one-game suspension for a violation of NCAA rules. He will be eligible for competition in the team’s home opener on Tuesday versus Lipscomb. We appreciate the NCAA’s efforts to reach a timely resolution of his eligibility.

Sexton had been ruled ineligible by The University of Alabama and the school had hoped he would cleared before the exhibition game on Monday. An hour prior to tipoff against Alabama-Huntsville, Byrne released a statement saying the team would hold out Sexton to "err on the side of caution."

This ruling means Sexton will be available to play on Tuesday against Lipscomb. That game will be played in Tuscaloosa at 7p.m. That game and all Crimson Tide basketball games this season will stream live on the 95.3 the Bear app.
