Area businesses and schools have announced delays as we anticipate some arctic cold air and a good chance of some precipitation that could make for hazardous commuting Monday and Tuesday.

We'll update all delays and closings as we get them and announce them on air. If you have some information you'd like us to share, submissions can be made here.

University of Alabama

The following statement was released at 4:00 pm on Sunday:

"The University of Alabama will open as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 6.   Employees should monitor weather conditions along their travel routes and notify their supervisors if they are not able to travel to work safely.

UA currently plans to start classes as scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 8.  Faculty will work with students who experience travel delays because of the severe weather.

The Emergency Preparedness and Response Policy Group will continue to monitor weather conditions. Employees and students are encouraged to stay alert to changing weather conditions.

Shelton State Community College

  • Shelton State Community College is set to open at 10 AM Monday.

Tuscaloosa City Schools

  • Monday, January 6: two hour delay
  • Tuesday, January 7: two hour delay
  • Students traveling to school by bus will be picked up two hours later than the normal scheduled-pick up time and employees should report to work two hours later than scheduled as well.

Tuscaloosa County Schools

  • Faculty and Staff will operate on a two-hour delay Monday and Tuesday. Classes are set to resume on their normal schedule Wednesday, January 8.

American Christian Academy

  • Faculty/Staff report will at 9:30 AM; Students are to report at 10 AM Monday.

Holy Spirit School (Tuscaloosa)

  • Holy Spirit School will operate on a two-hour delay Monday.

North River Christian Pre-School

  • North River Christian Pre-School will open at 10 AM Monday.

Pickens County Schools

  • Faculty and Staff are to report at 9:15 AM and students at 10 AM Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Pickens Academy

  • Monday, January 6: CLOSED
  • Tuesday, January 7: employees report at 9:15 and students should report at 10:00 am.

Greene County Schools

  • Faculty and Staff are to report at 9:30 AM Monday.

Fayette County Schools

  • Fayette County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Walker County Schools

  • Walker County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday and Tuesday.

Birmingham City Schools

  • Birmingham City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday.

Bessemer Academy

  • Bessemer Academy will open at 10AM Monday

Bessemer City Schools 

  • Bessemer City Elementary and Middle Schools' staff are to report at 9 AM and students at 10 AM Monday. Bessemer City High Schools' staff are to report at 9:30 AM Monday and students at 10:30 AM.

Jefferson County Schools

  • Schools within the Jefferson County School System will operate on a two-hour delay Monday and Tuesday.
