After falling for their fourth straight loss and dropping five out of their last six in SEC play, it looks like Kristy Curry and the Alabama Women's Basketball team have come to a standstill just five games before the conference tournament in early March.

It's important to understand that their schedule didn't help them very much when Alabama finally got into conference play. In fact, prior to Thursday evening against Ole Miss, the only losses on the season for the Tide had come from top-25 ranked teams in the country.

The last five games of the Tide's 2020-2021 regular season won't get any easier as their next two appearances come on the road and they take on No. 24  Mississippi State, No. 5 Texas A&M, and No. 17 Arkansas to close out their final three appearances before the SEC tournament. Beyond the conference play, these next five games could play a big factor in determining if the Crimson Tide can get a shot at the 2021 NCAA tournament in San Antonio, TX.

As of Tuesday, Feb. 9, ESPN's Charlie Creme still had Alabama making his top 48 teams as a No. 7 seed which would cement the Tide as an NCAA tournament bid if the season were to end this week. However, with two of their final matchups against top-25 schools taking place at home in Coleman, if Alabama can't manage to steal a ranked win as they've struggled to do all season, they'll be forced to attempt keeping their March Madness dreams alive in the daunting SEC conference tournament.

The next matchup, on the other hand, is shaping up to be a solid confidence booster as the Kristy Curry-led Crimson Tide travel down to the plains for a Sunday evening meeting with the disappointing 5-14 Auburn Tigers. While college basketball can never be a sure bet, this game should at least be comfortable for the Tide as the Auburn program has yet to win an SEC game since March 4 of 2020.
